In the cooling process of ASTM A131 bulb flat steel, the cooling speed of web plate is faster than that of ball head, which makes the cooling shrinkage deformation force of web plate larger and causes bending deformation in the direction of ball head.
The following figure is a sketch of bending deformation of ASTM A131 bulb flat steel calculated by finite element method when it is cooled in natural state due to uneven temperature field.
The finite element analysis shows that the bending deformation of ASTM A131 bulb flat steel is mainly elastic. With the cooling process proceeding, the temperature difference between ball head and web gradually decreases, the temperature distribution gradually becomes uniform, and the bending deformation of ASTM A131 bulb flat steel will be alleviated to a certain extent.
