Submarine steel has good weldability

The whole submarine is a large welding structure, and welding is an essential process for submarine construction. Considering the safety of submarine structure, it is a very strict requirement that the weld, heat affected zone and base metal should have equal strength and toughness. Because the welding process is the process of remelting and re solidification of metal, it is completely different from the base metal through refining, rolling, heat treatment, etc. The welding seam obtains a coarse casting structure, while the base metal is a quenched and tempered structure with good comprehensive properties. With the increase of steel strength, the carbon equivalent also increases, and the weldability of steel will become worse. The weldability of submarine steel is usually expressed by carbon equivalent (Ceq) and crack sensitivity coefficient (PcM). Carbon equivalent Ceq=C+Mn/6+Si/24+Ni/40+Cr/5+Mo/4+V/14, crack sensitivity coefficient PCM=C+Si/30+Mn/20+Cu/20+Ni/60+Cr/20+Mo/15+V/10+5B. It is required that carbon equivalent and welding crack sensitivity coefficient of submarine steel should be reduced as much as possible.
